what is marriage anyway?
one of my friend made a long written discussion questioning the meaning of marriage. we could find that it has become a method - a formal, well mannered method to reproduce ourselves to keep our existence in this world.

but for him, marriage, basically, is a matter of trusting each other, become one, as team, building a solid collaboration of different origin and making a new blend of couples who could be helpful & constructive to our environment. according to my friend, it is important for couples to know about themselves, to know about their history and know where they want to head their life, and know the reasons before the choose to bond themselves in what so-called marriage.

as i'm asking myself about my own purpose to marry someone, i find my friend's opinion valuable. most people would agree that to marry someone is to be and to get life's companion. it is not good for the man to be alone - as said in bible. and then there is a purpose of bearing & raising children -- if that's His will. but more than that, just as told by my friend, there is also a purpose of "contribution". together as a couple, we are meant to do something significant together. god must have had some reasons for bringing us together. he has placed us in a great plan for making a better world & we might not able to comprehend how great our role is in god's design.

it's a good vision to realize that we are married for a mission - a mission to make our marriage a gift to others. and that mission will work in all kind of situations, no matter how rich or poor we are or whether we have children or none.

those are my purposes of marriage! and i'm happily waiting for the moment when i say "i do".
